Philosophical Meanderings

Some assume that time coexists with space and, therefore, time came into being with the big bang (the creation of our universe). Others postulate that maybe time has always existed—even before the big bang. Possibly, time already existed because other parallel universes already existed, and our universe and time was created when parallel universes, usually separated, collided to form a new universe.

Regardless of what theory may actually hold up, there is one immutable fact, and that is, despite humankind’s cognitive capacity and penchant for reflection, we still perceive ourselves as the centre of the universe around which all else rotates. Such is the egoist nature of humankind we believe that, we alone, have the capacity to understand what other creatures cannot. Such a belief is testimony to the supreme narcissism of the human species.
